“CueNotes: don’t build a feature; build a product. CueNotes was an awesome feature for something like YouTube. VH1 Pop Up Video for music on your phone or on your computer. It was like Twitter for songs, where you could put facts and information in there. People could follow each other, and you could learn about songs and people. It was really neat, but ultimately, again, this relied on someone like YouTube, or Vimeo, or Sony partnering with you. If they didn’t, it was tough to make a go of it – the old consumer acquisition piece. Customer acquisition was too tough. We also undercapitalized it. With more capital, it might have been successful.”
