“I think the biggest lesson that I took away from that was: things can always get worse. It’s crazy to think about it, but it puts a sense of optimism in a person’s mind, even when you’re in the midst of really, really terrible problems, financial crisis, or health problems, or family issues, or whatever. When you go through an experience like that, you realize that it can actually get a lot worse. It gives you perspective, and honestly, it trained, at least me at a very early age that 1) you shouldn’t feel entitled for anything in life. 2) Nothing is for granted. 3) It can always get worse. 4) Life is short. Do something with it.”
