“I've learned that not all designers are comfortable with selling their own products. They're too close to it sometimes, and I think it's hard to be selling something that you created because any feedback can't be taken in as it would to someone who didn't think it up, as you know the artist. If you're going to be both roles, you really have to have thick skin. You really have to develop a filter of when you're being the seller versus the designer. If you don't have that kind of thick skin, then you've got to hire someone that does because they're both crucial, but if you get hurt really easily, then it's definitely not a pleasant experience.”
