“It was in the middle of a tech meltdown, so there was no funding available. I said, “Okay, we’ll make this a service firm.” A lot of the business prior to that had a service component, “So we’ll start off with services, and we’ll find cool projects. We’ll learn about it. I’ll build a team up, and then when we find the right opportunity, I’ll have the funding, the capital, the team, the office space to jump on it. We did a whole bunch of projects for Amtrak, and museums, and the military and learned a lot about mobile tech until the iPhone came out.”
