“Life was good. I was lucky my dad was the manager of the Munich Airport, so we traveled a lot, and I was an early global citizen that way, spending a lot of my time in other countries even when I was young, staying with other families, learning other languages. At the same time, Munich was a nice, almost provincial town. We did a lot of skiing, and I even ended up in the army with the Mountaineers for two years. It was a mix of a healthy Munich mountain life and some international exposure.”
