Ren Jinsheng is the founder and chairman of Simcere Pharmaceutical Group, a company established in 1995. Simcere is an innovation and R&D-driven pharmaceutical company focusing on neuroscience, oncology, autoimmune, and anti-infection therapeutic areas. The company was the first bio and chemical pharmaceutical company in China to be listed on the NYSE in 2007 and was later listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In 2013, Ren Jinsheng led a consortium to take the company private from the NYSE.
