He played a pivotal role in securing the court ruling that overturned the SEC's refusal of Grayscale's Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) application to become a spot Bitcoin ETF. In August 2024, Sonnenshein stepped down as CEO after three years in that role, transitioning to a new position within the company.
