Raymond Cypess is the current Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC), a nonprofit organization headquartered in Manassas, VA. ATCC is the leading collector, preserver, and supplier of reference standard microorganisms, cell lines, and other biomedical research materials. Cypess joined ATCC in 1993 as president and became Chair and CEO in 2006. Prior to ATCC, he was a dean, professor of microbiology and immunology, and vice provost for research at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, and held appointments at the University of Pittsburgh and Cornell University.
