Chen Shuai is the co-founder of Cambricon Technologies, an artificial intelligence (AI) chipmaker based in China. The company was founded in 2016 and is a spin-off from the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Cambricon Technologies raised US$100 million in Series A funding in August 2017, which included investments from Alibaba Group, Lenovo, and the investment arm of CAS. Just four months prior, in April 2017, Cambricon received US$1.4 million from CAS. The company's flagship product, the Cambricon-1A processor, is designed for deep learning applications in areas like robotics, autonomous vehicles, and consumer electronics.
