James Dacombe is a 25-year-old British Thiel Fellow and founder of OLIX, a London-based AI chip startup that uses photonics to build Optical Tensor Processing Units (OTPUs). He founded OLIX in 2024 and in February 2026 led the company to raise $220 million in a Series A round, pushing total funding to $250 million and valuation past $1 billion.
