Marcos Galperin is the founder and CEO of MercadoLibre, an e-commerce company focused on serving the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking markets in Latin America. Founded in 1999, the company began in a garage in Buenos Aires and by 2006, it hosted the largest online trading platform in Latin America. MercadoLibre had revenues of $52 million and net income of $1.1 million in 2006, prior to its 2007 IPO which raised $289 million. The company has since developed a diversified business model including payment solutions, logistics, and financing, operating in 18 countries across Latin America.
