Payam Zamani is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of One Planet Group, a closely held private equity firm he established in 2015 that owns online technology and media businesses while investing in early-stage companies. Born in Iran and fleeing religious persecution as a Baha’i at age 16, he settled in the U.S. in 1988 and previously co-founded the public online car marketplace AutoWeb. His investment thesis targets innovative, high-growth seed-stage companies and some later-stage entities, with specific focus on mobility, education technology, health technology, and environmental solutions. One Planet Group prioritizes companies run by women and/or people of color, with 55 percent of its investments meeting this diversity standard.
