A modern outbound playbook: tight ICP, multi-channel sequences, real personalization, and the reply rates founders should expect.
Outbound in 2026 isn't dead — generic outbound is. The teams that book meetings share the same fundamentals: a narrow ICP, real research, and short sequences that respect the buyer's time.
50-200 named target accounts, not "anyone in the ICP." Enrich each with a specific reason-to-outreach (funding, hiring, product launch, competitor switch). Generic blasts trained buyers to auto-delete.
5-7 touches over 2 weeks across email, LinkedIn, and phone. Never 15+ emails over 2 months — it burns the domain and the brand. Add value in 2 of the 5 touches (an article, a data point, a warm intro).
Real: reference something specific to their business that took you 90 seconds to research. Fake: "I saw you're the [title] at [company]" merged tokens. Buyers know the difference in 5 seconds.
Cold email: 2-6% positive reply on a well-targeted list. Cold LinkedIn: 5-10%. Phone: 3-5% connect rate. Anything materially higher and someone is fabricating numbers.
