Sam Bankman-Fried, also known as SBF, is the founder and former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, which collapsed in late 2022. He was convicted in November 2023 on multiple federal charges including wire fraud and money laundering, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March 2024. A federal appeals court affirmed his conviction and sentence in June 2026.
