About Donald Pinkel

Donald Pinkel was the first director and CEO of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, serving from 1961 to 1973. He was a giant in the field of oncology and proved that childhood cancer was a curable disease. He made medical history by creating an effective therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and established the first integrated children's hospital in the South.
