Itay Barnea is the CEO of BioProtect, an Israeli medical device startup established in 2004 that develops biodegradable balloon spacers for radiation therapy in prostate cancer treatment. He leads the company's mission to protect healthy tissue from radiation damage during prostate cancer treatment. BioProtect was acquired by Japanese medtech giant Olympus in a $270 million all-cash deal announced in May 2026.
