Christopher Scholin is the President and CEO of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), an oceanographic research center established in 1987. MBARI develops new tools and methods to understand the ocean, focusing on marine research and technology. Under Scholin's leadership, MBARI received a $52.94 million grant from the National Science Foundation to create a fleet of robotic ocean-monitoring floats, known as the GO-BGC Array, to monitor global ocean health in near real-time.
