Although his father was an ER doctor, Jake remembers their concept of being self-sufficient as having a year’s supply of gasoline, sheep, and chickens. He reminisces that his early years were not really as “cool” as he thought them to be. Being a theatre kid, going to Yale for his education was an obvious choice.
